Divya Delhi: Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary said the Group of Ministers (GoM) supported the Centre's GST proposals to abolish the 12% and 28% slabs. “We supported the two proposals by the Govt of India of scrapping GST slabs of 12% and 28%,” Choudhary said following a GoM meeting with Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. He noted that all states participated in conversations and made ideas, but some had observations. Everyone offered suggestions on Centre possibilities. A few states have observations. GST Council has been consulted. The Council will decide, Choudhary stated.According to Choudhary, the conference discussed removing the two slabs and gained support. West Bengal Health Minister Chandrima Bhattacharya told reporters, “All the states are with the common people, but I raised in the meeting that if the states lose revenue, that goes back to the common people, so we want to know how we are going to be compensated. The GoM will report to the GST Council with our concerns noted.” She continued, “We don't know what revenue this GST rate cut loses. They haven't assessed. We'll learn in GST Council.”
