Divya Delhi: In 2026, Class 10 students can take the CBSE board exams twice in one year. Officials said Wednesday that they must attend the first phase in February. Students can take the optional second part in May to enhance their results, said. The new National Education Policy recommended bi-annual Class 10 board exams, which the CBSE has approved. The official announcement states that students can take board exams twice a year, once for development and once for the main exam, to reduce the "high stakes" nature of them. The new policy allows students who passed the necessary first board test to improve in science, mathematics, social science, or languages. A student cannot take phase 2 if they did not take three or more subjects in phase 1. Students in ‘Essential Repeat’ can only take the main exam in February 2026 next year. “February and May will be the first and second phases. April and June will bring phase results "CBSE Exam Controller Sanyam Bhardwaj remarked. Student attendance is required for the first phase but optional for the second. He noted that students can progress in any three of science, math, social science, and languages.
