Divya Delhi : At the national traders’ conference organized today by the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) at Hotel The Lalit, former Union Minister and CAIT’s Strategic Advisor Smt. Smriti Irani wholeheartedly supported the decision taken by trader leaders across the country to sever all trade relations with Turkey and Azerbaijan. She described the move as a tribute to the valor and courage of India’s armed forces, driven by true patriotic spirit.From the stage, Smt. Irani saluted the nationalistic resolve of the business community and urged CAIT to launch a campaign encouraging traders to voluntarily contribute to the National Defence Fund, so that the trading community can actively participate in supporting the families of India’s martyrs.On this occasion, she made a heartfelt announcement:As a former Member of Parliament, I am entitled to a pension, which I have never availed. Today, I dedicate my entire pension to the National Defence Fund. It is both my duty and my honor.”She emphasized that this was not a government directive, but a personal and emotional appeal — a tribute to the mothers, sisters, and wives who have lost their loved ones in the service of the nation.In her address, she said:“When small traders across the country are standing with the nation — giving up business interests to uphold the pride of the motherland — that sacrifice too plays a vital role in nation-building. It is our collective responsibility to do whatever we can for our soldiers and their families.”Smt. Irani called upon all traders and citizens to voluntarily contribute to the National Defence Fund and be a part of this noble cause.Her emotional appeal and powerful commitment were met with resounding applause and wholehearted support from the business leaders present at the event.CAIT has accepted Smt. Irani’s suggestion and announced that it will launch a nationwide awareness campaign to ensure effective and impactful contributions from the trading community to the National Defence Fund.
