Divya Delhi: After sweeping throughout the net, a large-eyed, oversized-eared monster is now officially in India. Introducing Labubu, a troublemaking elf created by Hong Kong artist Kasing Lung that has gained international acclaim as a collectible. And no, for many of its followers, it's more than just a toy; it's a form of culture, hype, art, and passion. The Monsters, an illustrated fantasy world by Kasing Lung that drew heavily from Nordic mythology, was where Labubu first appeared in 2015. Labubu, who is half beast and half monkey, became well-known right away for his endearing and eccentric traits, which include his big eyes, low stature, untidy fur, and broad smile. It was charming and eerie, but most of all, it was unique. When Labubu partnered with Chinese toy business Pop Mart in 2019, it truly took off in popularity. Labubu was first offered as art toys by the boutique brand How2Work. A flurry and a flourishing secondary market for the uncommon variations resulted from Pop Mart's distribution of it in blind-box collections, where the buyer is unaware of which version they are purchasing. Today, Labubu is more than simply a moniker; it is a worldwide fashion symbol. Rihanna, Lisa from BLACKPINK, Dua Lipa, and even Kim Kardashian have been spotted hoarding them. The price of some of the rare ones has reached 1.4 crore rupees, or about $170,000.
