Divya  Delhi:  The White Lotus's hedonistic spirit brings a guilty pleasure. We feel like travelers in a timeless zone, relaxing, sighing, gawking, and occasionally pouting. The story has thin yet strong strands. Characters are vacationing. Screenwriters aren't. The events in Thailand (where the loaded tourists are this time) are so captivating that we feel engaged in the characters more than they deserve. Jason Isaacs (who looks like an older, wiser Rajat Kapoor) as investor Timothy Ratliff on vacation with his wife and three adult children was especially captivating. All of Timothy's money is gone. He must act normal to avoid ruining his family's holiday. The tension is palpable. Also when the island's clean-cut security guard Gaiyok (Tayme Thapthimthong) loses his gun while having fun romantically. I thought both tight characters deserved spins. It's a comment on the tight writing. Surface mood is sun, sea, and enjoyment. But the fissures and fractures beneath will strike when you least expect it. Season 3 offers the characters more depth and a lasting locus standi than Seasons 1 and 2. Many characters lingered in my mind. The toothy Aimee Lou Wood plays Chelsea with bite. Her graph is great: she starts as a gold digger and then becomes a kind companion to a distressed man.
