Divya Delhi:  Sensex and Nifty50 opened in India practically flat on April 17, 2025. The Sensex (top 30 businesses index) fell 76.27 points to 76,968.02. Meanwhile, Nifty50 (top 50 businesses index) opened 35.35 points down at 23,401.85. Investors were cautious ahead of fourth-quarter results season and weak global indications, so Indian stock markets opened flat on Thursday. Market experts said tariff concerns by US President Donald Trump continue to undermine market mood. US Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell recently noted tariffs' major impact on the global economy, adding to the market's caution. Many sector indices opened in the red. All sectors except Nifty Pharma, PSU Bank, and Realty were under pressure. Nifty Auto fell 0.89% and Nifty IT more than 2%, reflecting a tech stock sell-off. The focus today is on many key firms' fourth-quarter earnings. Infosys, HDFC Life Insurance, Jio Financial Services, HDFC Asset Management, Tata Elxsi, and Mahindra EPC Irrigation report results today. These papers are closely watched by investors for market predictions.
