DIVYA DELHI: Former Haryana Deputy Chief Minister and BJP supporter Dushyant Chautala wrote to the Governor requesting a state assembly floor test. Mr. Chautala's departure follows three independent MLAs' exit and rising BJP coalition problems. Mr. Chautala wrote to Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya saying recent resignations and support withdrawals had pushed the ruling BJP alliance on the edge of minority status. "I urge you to direct the appropriate authority to immediately call for a floor test to determine majority of government," Mr. Chautala wrote to the Governor. The defection of three Independent MLAs from BJP to Congress prompted the floor test call. At a Rohtak press conference on Tuesday, Dadri MLAs Sombir Sangwan, Randhir Singh Gollen, and Dharampal Gonder announced their desire to withdraw support from the BJP. They were joined by Assembly Leader of the Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda and state Congress chief Udai Bhan.Mr Chautala, leader of the Jannayak Janta Party (JJP), a former BJP ally, said his party would support an alternative government, hinting to a Congress alliance. The administration constituted two months ago is now in the minority since two of its supporters—a BJP MLA and an Independent MLA—resigned. Three Independent MLAs who supported them wrote to the Governor to withdraw their support. "JJP has stated that we will support a No Confidence Motion against this government," Chautala remarked.
