Divya Delhi:  Benjamin De Kraker, an experienced AI developer, blogged on X about Grok 3, a forthcoming AI model from xAI. He gave his judgment, placing it lower than OpenAI’s current coding AI. xAI told him to erase the post, even though it was simply his opinion. Sources say that stating "Grok 3 –  breached company secrets, even though Elon Musk teased the model publicly over a month ago. In his article, De Kraker stated, “After reviewing everything and thinking a lot, I’ve decided that I’m not going to delete the post,” as quoted by Futurism. He said his opinion was uncontroversial. De Kraker said, "It's just a harmless personal opinion," the report said. The engineer thought xAI disliked his honest assessment regarding Grok 3's abilities, especially because he called it "to be determined" in his message. De Kraker claimed he was upset by xAI's decision to fire him over "a clearly labelled opinion," despite trying to help the company. He noted the absurdity of a free-speech-supporting company adopting such a punitive move. De Kraker said, "A company claiming to support free speech would fire a low-level employee for a noncontroversial opinion." Elon Musk called the situation "weird" after De Kraker posted the news on X, according to Futurism. But no additional action was done to fix the situation. Musk's firm is known for its free speech ideas, but De Kraker's firing demonstrates the difference between its words and actions. Futurism notes that this poses problems regarding "free speech absolutism" in AI development.
