First-year computer application Master's student Neha Hiremath was walking toward the college gates of the BV Bhoomaraddi campus of KLE Technological University at 4.30pm on April 18. Her mother was waiting to pick her up. Fayaz Khondunaik, a 23-year-old former classmate who dropped out, assaulted the girl on the way. Khondunaik stabbed Hiremath six times as CCTV footage shocked society. Later that day, he was apprehended after fleeing. Hiremath died after being transported to the hospital.
