Divya Delhi: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will attend a Shanghai Cooperation Organization conference in Islamabad. Jaishankar may attend a banquet event organized by Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to greet SCO participants. The first high-level visit from India in years comes amid ongoing tensions between the neighbors. India's foreign minister will visit Pakistan for the first time in over nine years, despite their tense relations over Kashmir and Pakistani cross-border terrorism. Jaishankar would stay in Pakistan for less than 24 hours is said. The Ministry of External Affairs announced that Pakistan will convene the 23rd SCO Council of Heads of Government (CHG) meeting in Islamabad on October 16, 2024. The annual SCO CHG conference discusses the Organization's trade and economic agenda. External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar will represent India during the summit. India is active in the SCO structure, including its mechanisms and efforts, the statement said. India and Pakistan have ruled out bilateral discussions between Jaishankar and Ishaq Dar during the SCO heads of government summit.
