CBI Arrests Journalist from Jharkhand and Conducts Searches in Gujarat Over NEET Exam Irregularities

Diva Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested journalist Jamaluddin from Hazaribagh, Jharkhand, in connection with alleged irregularities in the NEET exam, according to sources. Simultaneously, the CBI conducted searches at seven locations in Gujarat. Sources within the CBI confirmed on Saturday that Jamaluddin was arrested in connection with ongoing investigations into NEET exam irregularities. The arrest took place in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand. At the same time, CBI teams were conducting searches in several places across Gujarat, including Godhra, Kheda, Anand, and Ahmedabad. Earlier, on June 27, the CBI made its initial arrests related to the NEET-UG paper leak case in Bihar. Manish Prakash and Ashutosh were apprehended in Patna. According to sources, Manish Prakash, with assistance from Ashutosh, allegedly facilitated leaked papers and answer keys to candidates at a boys' hostel associated with Learn Play School in Patna on May 4, just before the NEET exam.Subsequently, on June 28, officials confirmed the arrest of the principal and vice principal of Oasis School in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand, also in connection with the NEET-UG paper leak case. The CBI is currently handling six cases related to the NEET paper leak—each involving one case from Bihar, Gujarat, and Maharashtra, and three cases from Rajasthan. NEET-UG 2024, organized by the National Testing Agency (NTA), witnessed participation from over 24 lakh candidates across 4,750 centers in 571 cities. Results were declared on June 4, following which concerns were raised about irregularities, particularly regarding 67 students achieving top scores amidst allegations of question paper leaks in Bihar.
