Divya Delhi: The interim Bangladeshi government revised the International Crimes (Tribunals) Act, 1973 with ordinance no. 20, 2025. Thus, the tribunal might suspend and prohibit any political party (including its front organizations), cancel its registration, and seize its property if found guilty of aiding, instigating, or conspiring in any statute-listed felony. However, the Yunus administration refused to await the tribunal's ruling. On the same day, it abruptly banned Awami League activities pending case resolution. Yunus appointed former High Court judge Nazrul Islam Chowdhury to chair a second three-member tribunal. Three-member tribunal under Justice Mohammed Ghulam Murtaza Mazumdar is now International Crimes Tribunal-I. The temporary government changed the tribunal's March 25, 2010 goal. It was created to pursue and punish genocide and crimes against humanity during the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War. To speed up trials, a second tribunal was established on March 22, 2012, however it was amalgamated on September 15, 2015, as the caseload dropped.
