Difficult to Manage: The SC refuses to hear more Waqf (Amendment) Act cases.

Divya Delhi:  The Supreme Court rejected 13 further petitions contesting the Waqf (Amendment) Act, 2025's constitutionality.  The Supreme Court said adding more pleas would be hard to “handle.” Derek O'Brien, PDP, and Congress politician Imran Pratapgarhi were among 25 appeals rejected by the Supreme Court. The panel, including Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna and Justice Sanjay Kumar, refused to increase the number of applications.This will keep piling up and becoming tough to manage.” The Supreme Court stated that it will not consider fresh applications challenging the Waqf Amendment Act, 2025. The Supreme Court noted that most petitions challenging this law contain comparable facts. If petitioners want to add a new argument, they can apply in the specified cases. The Supreme Court has ordered petitioners Firoz Iqbal Khan, Imran Pratapgarhi, Shaik Muneer Ahmad, and Muslim Advocates Association to intervene in main pleas if they have further reasons to challenge the Waqf statute. “We will listen to all...Five cases reported. The senior lawyer added that his case involves other sections of the Waqf Act, not ‘Waqf by User’, which the Chief Justice's panel will evaluate.
