Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Atishi, who has been on an indefinite hunger strike over the water crisis in Delhi, was admitted to Lok Nayak Jai Prakash (LNJP) Hospital on Tuesday after her blood sugar level plummeted to 36. Her sugar level had been dropping since the previous night, and when it reached 36, she was admitted to the hospital for further treatment. Atishi's hunger strike entered its fifth day on Tuesday, as she continues to demand that the Haryana government release 100 million gallons of water per day (MGD) to Delhi.

The AAP leader has been risking her life by refusing food and water, but she is determined to continue her hunger strike until the Haryana government provides water to Delhiites and the gates of the Hathnikund Barrage are opened. The AAP-led Delhi government has accused the Haryana government of cutting down the water supply to Delhi by 100 MGD, exacerbating the water crisis and affecting the lives of 28 lakh residents.

The water crisis in Delhi has been triggered by rising temperatures and heatwaves, which have increased water demand. Many areas in Delhi are now reliant on water tankers to meet their daily water requirements.
