Divya Delhi: In order to stay fit, England Test captain Ben Stokes has quit drinking. With a key five-match Test series against India and the Ashes, Stokes wants to be in top form. On June 20, the series begins. Stokes is recovering from a hamstring injury and working hard to get healthy. The issue developed during The Hundred tournament last year and exacerbated during a Test match against New Zealand. His December operation prevented him from touring Sri Lanka and Pakistan. Now he wants a big comeback against India. Stokes gave up drinking to get fit and lead the team, according to The Telegraph. Late-night partying and drinking may slow his rehabilitation and worsen his injury. Stokes said he stopped consuming alcohol at the start of the year in a podcast. “I’ve not touched alcohol since January 2,” he stated, a big step toward staying strong and healthy.
