India has consistently supported a UN Security Council resolution and international law solution to the Cyprus problem, while Turkey seeks recognition of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, which it illegally established on the island's northern part, occupied by the Turkish Army. Cyprus strongly supports India's Security Council and Nuclear Suppliers Group and International Atomic Energy Agency memberships. PM Modi's visit to Cyprus comes at a time when economic and business relations between Cyprus and India are rapidly improving, benefiting both states and their business communities by creating new investment opportunities and prospects.
