Divya Delhi: The Maharashtra opposition alliance, the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), is reaching a decision on seat-sharing for the state assembly elections. The alliance has agreed to divide 260 of 288 seats, according to sources. After a heated meeting in Mumbai on Thursday, top leaders from Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), and the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar group) reached an agreement. The 260 seats have been awarded, however 28 controversial seats remain. According to reports, these seats are hard to bargain because all three main parties want them. A top MVA leader said more meetings would be undertaken today and Saturday if needed to reach a final agreement. “All alliance partners want the same key constituencies, so it's taking time to resolve. However, we are currently developing a formula that will satisfy everyone and maximize our chances of victory, a top MVA leader told CNN-News18 on condition of anonymity. According to an MVA source, the coalition has agreed to grant Congress 110–115 seats because to its strong Lok Sabha performance. Shiv Sena (UBT) may run candidates in 83 to 86 constituencies, focused on Mumbai and the Konkan belt. The NCP (SP) will compete 72 to 75 seats, focusing on western Maharashtra, where Ajit Pawar's party is attempting to gain the most seats and severely damage Sharad Pawar's party.
