Divya Delhi:  India ended a brilliant unbeaten run with a third Champions Trophy win, beating New Zealand by four wickets in the final. This should cheer up its fans after two heartbreaks in One Day International title matches: 2017 Champions Trophy to Pakistan at the Oval and 2023 World Cup to Australia in Ahmedabad.Sharma batted 76 off 83 deliveries. The success at a Dubai International Stadium packed with blue-clad fans and millions applauding back home and abroad added to India's 2013 Champions Trophy win in England, after sharing the trophy with Sri Lanka in 2002. This victory will help soothe Test wounds from last year's 0-3 home loss to New Zealand and the Border Gavaskar Trophy loss to Australia. India last won the Champions Trophy in 2013 under MS Dhoni. India duplicated the feat with five wins under Rohit. Back-to-back wins after the T20 World Cup success in the West Indies last year showed India's white-ball dominance. In the 2013 Champions Trophy, Dhoni promoted Rohit to open. Captain Rohit again showed his worth by timing his maiden fifty of the competition perfectly.  Matt Henry, started well after deciding to bat till Chakravarthy and Kuldeep controlled the innings. The spinners thereafter dominated scoring. Mitchell Santner, Rachin Ravindra, and Michael Bracewell of New Zealand bowled tight spells, but India's batting depth and experience won out.
