Divya Delhi:  A huge squid floating freely in the water has been seen on camera for the first time by scientists in an incredible deep-sea find. This occurred about a century after the species was initially identified. The unique footage was captured by a marine researcher aboard the Schmidt Ocean Institute's ship, Falkor, according to The Metro. The sighting took place while traveling from Argentina to Antarctica. On March 9, the juvenile squid, which measured around 30 cm in length, was spotted close to the South Sandwich Islands. It was captured on camera using a specialized underwater robot while swimming 600 meters below the surface. Mesonychoteuthis hamiltoni, also known as giant squid, was previously only known from dead remains discovered in the stomachs of whales or captured by fishing vessels. Nobody has ever seen one alive in its native deep-sea habitat before.
