The Liberals' legislative majority is uncertain. Canada had an election on Monday to extend Prime Minister Mark Carney's (Liberal Party) term or hand over power to the Conservatives. By winning this election, Liberals will secure an unprecedented fourth term. According to recent developments, PM Carney has held his Ottawa seat. After Justin Trudeau resigned in January, Mark Carney became a candidate for Prime Minister. Former governor of Canada's central bank, he is the Bank of England's first non-Briton leader since 1694. He replaced Trudeau, who resigned at the conclusion of his presidency when his party lost faith. Mark Joseph Carney is a Canadian economist and politician born March 16, 1965. Born in Fort Smith, NWT, he grew up in Edmonton, Alberta. Harvard University awarded him a bachelor's degree in economics. Carney became Bank of Canada governor in October 2007. He advised former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau during COVID-19. Carney chaired the Liberal Party's economic growth taskforce. His wife is British economist Diana Fox, whom he met at Oxford. The couple has four kids. Carney has never been elected or an MP.
