Divya Delhi : A significant developmental milestone was witnessed by Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs & Power, Manohar Lal Khattar, and Minister of State for Housing & Urban Affairs, Tokhan Sahu, as a Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) completed its underground journey between the Kishangarh and Vasant Kunj Metro stations. The TBM dug a 1.55-kilometer tunnel between Kishangarh and Vasant Kunj, marking a crucial milestone in the fourth phase of the Metro construction. The occasion was witnessed by Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and Minister Tokhan Sahu, who are responsible for power, housing, and urban affairs, respectively. They were present at the Vasant Kunj station site when the breakthrough took place. With an average depth of 23 meters and a range of 15.7 to 30.2 meters, the construction crew dug the tunnel using a 91-meter-long tunnel boring machine. Each of the 1,107 tunnel rings in the construction has an interior diameter of 5.8 meters. As previously reported by Jagran, work is already underway to create a parallel two-way moving tunnel. The projected completion date is June 2025. New York City's 399 km of subway system is the longest in the world, according to Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar. He is certain that the Delhi Metro system will surpass all others once a 12-kilometer line is inaugurated in December 2025, making it the biggest single-city network in the world.
