Divya Delhi: A little child in Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan, was badly hurt after trying to ignite a firecracker he built after viewing a YouTube demo. YouTube videos on making firecracker explosives sparked the experiment that nearly killed 13-year-old Himanshu. On October 28, the adolescent bought sulphur and potash, a fertilizer derived from mined and manufactured salts with water-soluble potassium, and mixed them to make firecrackers.Rekha, his mother, said Himanshu took Rs 100 to purchase juice and chocolates. After giving him money, his mother left for Pilani. Himanshu spent Rs 50 buying potash and sulphur. Despite his sister's cautions, he ground potash and sulphur at home in a mixer. He put this combination in a glass bottle in his pocket. A violent explosion damaged his leg when he accidently struck the bottle in his pocket while igniting firecrackers with an iron tool.Himanshu was transported to Surjgarh CHC by his uncle, then to Jhunjhunu and Jaipur, where he remains serious.
