Divya Delhi: Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann condemned the Centre for the arrival of another plane with illegal Indian immigrants deported from the US. Mr. Mann claims the BJP-led central government is trying to "defame" Punjab by choosing Amritsar as the airplane landing place.A flight with 119 deported Indians is due reach Amritsar Airport by 10 PM today. 67 are from Punjab, 33 from Haryana, 8 from Gujarat, 3 from Uttar Pradesh, 2 from Goa, Maharashtra, and Rajasthan, and 1 from Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir. This comes in the context of a political storm over 104 Indian migrants who were flown back to India, chained and shackled, on a C-17 US military aircraft last week. Mr Mann has questioned the rationale of selecting Amritsar as the chosen landing place for these aircraft, alleging a political agenda behind the Centre's choice. Tomorrow, a second plane with Indian residents who allegedly illegally relocated to the US will land in Amritsar. The Ministry of External Affairs should explain why Amritsar was chosen to land the plane. You pick Amritsar to malign Punjab. So, US authorities must have been shackling our people when PM Modi and US President Donald Trump were meeting. "Is this Trump's gift?" wondered the Punjab CM. The BJP-led Centre always discriminates against Punjab. Mr. Mann claimed it never misses an occasion to slander Punjab. "They're trying to slander Punjab and Punjabis as a conspiracy." The BJP denied Mr. Mann's claims, saying he was using the situation for politics."Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann should not politicize delicate matters. BJP MP Praveen Khandelwal remarked, "AAP leaders only care about politics, not national security."
