Rahul Gandhi on Thursday addressed the Congress's 139th Foundation Day rally - titled 'Hain Taiyyar Hum' (we are ready) - in Nagpur to attack the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). However, the BJP was quick to pick up a goof-up made by the Congress leader during his blistering speech. While addressing a rally, Rahul Gandhi opened an all-guns blazing attack on the BJP on a range of issues, including the party's contribution to India's freedom fight. However, BJP leader Shehzad Poonawalla took to X and shared a clip from Rahul Gandhi's long speech. The clip highlighted a fumble made by Rahul Gandhi during his speech as he mistakenly said, "Angrezon ki ladai, angrezon ke khilaf thi (The fight of the British was against the British)". Rahul Gandhi's speech in Nagpur, which houses the headquarters of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), was a bugle for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The Congress MP attacked the BJP and RSS, accusing them of taking the country back to the pre-independence era of slavery, and said the BJP's ideology is the ideology of "Raja-Maharajas" (kings) who do not listen to anyone and where an order comes from the top and everybody has to follow it.
