Divya Delhi:  The firing of assistant coach Abhishek Nayar was accepted by Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir. Nayar joined Gambhir's support staff as soon as he took over as head coach, and the two had worked closely together since their KKR days. After the Australia Test series loss, Gambhir did not object to the BCCI's startling decision to fire his coaching staff. The Hindustan Times claims that Gambhir would rather keep Ryan Ten Doeschate and Morne Morkel as his two coaching recommendations than make any further changes to his staff. "Gambhir did not object to the dismissal of Nayar." To get Ten Doeschate and Morkel on board, he had to engage in extensive discussions. A BCCI source informed Hindustan Times, "He was not going to let them go this early."
