Divya Delhi: Bangalore's citywide mob rioting over Indira Gandhi's imprisonment forced the cancellation of the fifth day of the 1978 Test match between India and the West Indies at the KSCA stadium. However, the stampede on June 4 occurred outside the stadium gates and was not a public order incident. In the last 18 years, IPL franchise cricket has grown significantly. A country that lives cricket has franchise cricket as its showcase. In 2023-24, the BCCI earned Rs 9,743 crores, with the IPL contributing Rs 5,761 crores (59%). The most famous franchise, RCB, has 21 million Instagram followers and a $110 million valuation. An RCB executive unilaterally tweeted a parade and celebration at the KSCA stadium at 7am on June 4, causing the catastrophe. Fans gathered at the stadium as the chief minister, deputy CM, home minister, and police discussed the announcement. Due to weariness from the previous night, the police commissioner expressed worries regarding event management. RCB management circumvented the commissioner and contacted the powerful deputy CM despite these concerns. The stadium's 30,000-person capacity was overwhelmed by a huge throng without authorized consent.
