Divya Delhi:  Milind Rege, the former captain of Mumbai, died following a heart attack. Rege celebrated his 76th birthday. Between the 1966–67 and 1977–78 seasons, Rege had a successful domestic cricket career, taking 126 wickets with his off-spin in 52 first-class matches. Among Rege's contributions were 1532 runs at a 23.56 average. Rege continued to be actively associated with the Mumbai Cricket Association  after retiring. He held a number of positions, first as a selector and then as chief selector. As early as 2006, he supported the introduction of video analysis into Mumbai's system, making him one of the first proponents of its use in domestic cricket. Regi's passing was announced on the Board of Control for Cricket in India's  official X handle. "The BCCI laments the loss of former Mumbai captain and selector Milind Rege," the post stated. He was a cornerstone of Mumbai cricket and contributed significantly to its development and history. The cricket community as a whole admired his ability to spot talent and his efforts as a commentator. When Mumbai won the Ranji Trophy in 1988, a young Sachin Tendulkar was part of the selection panel that Rege was on. Sachin Tendulkar named Rege a "True Mumbai Cricketer" and conveyed his sorrow at his passing.
