Justice Bhuyan expressed doubts during the hearing about Kejriwal's detention by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), querying why it happened just before he was going to be given bail. He suggested that the CBI's activities could be intended to impede the bail procedure.Justice Bhuyan emphasized the legal presumption of innocence until proved guilty, saying that bail ought to be the rule rather than the exception. He chastised the CBI for its argument against bail, citing only Kejriwal's evasive answers to questions.As part of an investigation into possible wrongdoing pertaining to the Delhi government's excise policy for 2021–2022, Kejriwal was detained by the CBI on June 26. His arrest had been affirmed by the Delhi High Court earlier, but he was freed pending the outcome of the Supreme Court's decision today.
