Divya Delhi:  An exchange between a customer and an Airtel customer executive became popular on social media when the executive was requested to communicate in Maharashtra's "Marathi" language. The customer-recorded video, which has gone popular on X, depicts two people having a furious dispute about language. "The man is asking me to speak in Marathi in Maharashtra," the female customer service representative was heard to say. Is learning Marathi a need in Maharashtra? We welcome all languages here in India. Reports state that when a consumer complained about something to the Airtel care office in Mumbai, the situation got out of hand. The woman objected when he urged her to speak in Marathi, and they got into a fight. In an attempt to counsel the man, the woman also called local businesses, but he insisted that she speak Marathi. When the man was speaking in Marathi, the woman once stated, "I cannot understand," refusing to respond. Talk in Hindi, please. It is not required to speak Marathi. Instead of arguing about language, another customer service representative stepped in during the verbal altercation and requested the man to resolve his Airtel-related problem. The customer service representative asked, "Do you want to fix your problem or not?" Airtel hasn't, however, released an official remark regarding the matter.
