Prem Kumar Jain, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) spokesman for Chandrababu Naidu, claimed Reddy would carry out a forgiveness rite. The party further stated that as Reddy is a Christian, he need to affix his signature to a proclamation declaring his faith in Lord Balaji. Reddy is scheduled to conduct prayers at the temple as part of the nationwide rituals called by his party, the YSRCP, in order to purportedly atone for the "sin."
