Divya Delhi :Air India, the national carrier operating at a loss, has decreased the complimentary cabin baggage allowance for the lowest economy fare segment on domestic flights from 20 kilograms to 15 kilograms.Air India, which is owned by the Tata Group, implemented these modifications in August as part of the menu-based pricing model fare families. The airline claims that a one-size-fits-all approach is no longer viable.The revised free cabin baggage allowances for the Comfort and Comfort Plus categories are now 25 kilograms and 15 kilograms, respectively, as of May 2. Prior to the implementation of fare families, domestic Air India passengers were permitted to carry 25 kilograms of cabin cargo at no additional cost."Efficiency Class fare families for 'Comfort' and 'Comfort Plus' now offer a 15 kg baggage allowance on domestic itineraries, whereas 'Flex' offers a 25 kg allowance....On domestic routes, the Business Class baggage allowance varies between 25 kg and 35 kg. "The amount of complimentary baggage permitted on international flights differs between markets," the representative explained.Likewise, passengers of other domestic airlines are granted the allowance of transporting 15 kilograms of cabin cargo at no extra cost. The spokesperson underscored the purpose of tariff families, which takes into account the varied preferences of travelers, by enabling them to choose fares and services that most effectively correspond to their requirements.
