Divya Delhi:  After the Pahalgam terror tragedy, Fawad Khan and Vaani Kapoor's Abir Gulaal is in turmoil. It was expected to be Fawad Khan's Bollywood comeback, but reaction may lead to its suspension in India. India Today reports that government sources say Abir Gulaal will not be released in India. According to News18, a Ministry of Information and Broadcasting of India source said Abir Gulaal would be banned in India. Post-2016 URI terror attack tensions between India and Pakistan affected Pakistani actors' roles in Indian films. Even though the Bombay High Court rejected a 2023 plea to ban all Pakistani artists in India, numerous leaders and cinema associations opposed it. India's film federations oppose the film's release and have threatened legal action. Indian Film & Television Directors' Association President Ashoke Pandit told NDTV, “This incident is an act of war against the nation. These attacks have been occurring for almost 30 years. As a federation, we respectfully request not to employ Pakistanis. Artist, community, and other nonsense aside, the nation must come first. People think ‘agar mere ghar ka aadmi nahi mara toh fk it, I don't care’, yet if the terrorist shot this film's heroine or creators' family members, they wouldn't have worked with Fawad.
