Divya Delhi: With his return to the Indian Test team over eight years after his last appearance, Karun Nair is poised to reach a significant career milestone. The middle-order batsman, who made headlines with a record triple century in just his third Test match, may be making a long-awaited comeback in the forthcoming England series. Nair's first-class career abruptly ended after he made his debut in 2016 and amassed 303 runs without being dismissed in Chennai. Despite a bright start, he had few opportunities after playing his final Test match against Australia at Dharamsala in March 2017. But suddenly things are different. Nair has gained opportunities as a result of senior players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma quitting the format, in part because of his reliable performance at home. After being selected for the England tour, the 32-year-old spoke candidly about his return to cricket with the BCCI. He acknowledged that he had been itching to rejoin the squad and that the call gave him a great sense of relief and renewed confidence that he could perform well on the global scene.
