Divya Delhi : Thirty bus passengers survived after their vehicle diverted from the Pune-Mumbai expressway near Shirgaon's Ozarde hamlet and caught fire on Tuesday. All bus passengers survived the tragedy unharmed. The fire was extinguished by Vadgaon and Talegaon Dabhade firefighters and IRB personnel. Shirgaon police said the incident occurred around 5 am on the Kolhapur-Mumbai bus. The bus slammed the road barriers and stopped in a gutter near Shirgaon when the driver lost control while passing another vehicle from the left. Friction between elements caused the occurrence. Before emergency response systems notified the Vadgaon and Talegaon Dabhade IRB and fire services, passengers exited the car. Tahir Momin of the Vadgaon fire brigade said his squad found the bus on fire with dry grass nearby. According to the Times of India, fireman Tahin Momin said, “We doused the fire in the bus and the dry grass to prevent the spread to the nearby locality.” The bus did not flip after straying off the road, he added. If it turned, people would have had trouble exiting the bus safely.” Under Motor Vehicle Act sections 281 for rash driving, 125 for endangering life, and others, the bus driver has been charged.
