Divya Delhi:  Once dominant in the Indian Premier League, the Chennai Super Kings are on the brink of elimination in 2025. With two wins in nine matches, CSK's season has collapsed, and while playoff qualification is mathematically possible, it appears to be over. A variety of things have contributed to CSK's dismal year. Suspect auction choices, captain injuries, and MS Dhoni's declining influence have contributed. Even after Dhoni became captain mid-season, the franchise has struggled. Since the leadership transition, CSK hasn't won. MS Dhoni, 43, struggles to score with the bat. He has scored just 140 runs this year and still has knee problems that limit his movement and limit his batting at No. 7 or 9. Head coach Stephen Fleming has again admitted that Dhoni cannot bat for lengthy periods, which has frustrated fans who want to see him show his old wizardry. Adam Gilchrist was candid about CSK's troubles. Gilchrist acknowledges Dhoni's contribution to the IPL and CSK, but he thinks he should retire.
