Divya Delhi: According to Hindu tradition, there are eight equal segments, or Prahar, that make up a 24-hour day. Each segment lasts about three hours. Finding good and undesirable times to do things is a major function of this system.
These are the 8 Prahar's:
The Morning Four Prahars:
1) The day begins with 1st Prahar, which lasts from 6 AM until 9 AM. For religious purposes, it is a blessed time to pray and worship.
2) Avoid doing something auspicious between 9 AM and 12 PM on the 2nd Prahar.
3) 3rd Prahar (12 PM - 3 PM): It is believed that fortunate deeds are best carried out during this period.
4) 4th Prahar (3 PM–6 PM): It is recommended that you refrain from worshiping or sleeping during this last Prahar of the day.
The Four Night Prahar:
1) Prahar 1, also known as Pradosh Kaal, occurs between 6 and 9 o'clock in the evening and is a highly auspicious time for religious prayer.
2) Second Prahar (09:00 PM - 12:00 AM): Optimal moment for retail therapy. Some people think it's best to avoid touching plants at this time.
3) Third Prahar (12 AM-3 AM): The Nishith Kaal, which is frequently linked to tantric activities and rituals, is located here.
4) The last Prahar of the night, known as the 4th Prahar (3 AM - 6 AM), is also known as Usha Kaal. During this period, people highly value spiritual practices and prayers.
Due to the Prahar system, various ragas are performed at certain times of the day or night.
