Divya Delhi: Pune Police are searching for a man who raped a 26-year-old woman alongside a bus in Swargate. Twenty-two bus stand guards were suspended after the event. Accused Dattatray Ramdas Gade is fleeing. Officials said they're looking for him. The victim, a working woman, was waiting for a bus home in the morning. The accused approached her, claiming the bus to her destination was parked elsewhere. He escorted her to a parked bus, where he reportedly committed the crime. Smarthana Patil said the offender has been identified and a complaint has been filed. “We have identified the accused and are working to capture him. The accused is Dattatray Ramdas Gade. The victim is stable, according to Patil. The event prompted a Maharashtra government meeting. Maharashtra Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik stated, “We have called an immediate meeting in Mantralaya on Thursday at the additional chief secretary (transport) Sanjay Sethi's office. Many vehicles need to be scrapped and no call has been taken. This needs a decision. Scrapped vehicles should not be stored at bus stands. We must also install in all buses.” Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar called the act humiliating, hurtful, and aggravating. Pawar claimed he personally ordered the Pune Police Commissioner to closely supervise the probe and arrest the offenders immediately. “The rape of our sister at Pune's Swargate bus stand is shameful, painful, and infuriating for every civilized person. The accused's crime is terrible and requires the death penalty. Deputy CM: I have personally asked the Pune Police Commissioner to closely monitor the inquiry and arrest the offenders immediately. He added that Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has taken the issue seriously and instructed the police. He promised the police would quickly arrest the suspect. “The state government will take all necessary steps to ensure the accused receives the harshest punishment,” said Pawar. Shiv Sena leader Vasant More and other party leaders protested at Swargate bus terminus.
