Divya Delhi: Kabul Express stands still. A biting look at 9/11's global political changes. John and Arshad, two Indian rookie journalists, meet desert conflict and distrust. They're stressed by their Pakistani and Afghani co-passengers (Salman Shahid, Hanif Humghum) in the dusty car. After arriving in Afghanistan, Kabir Khan is unsure whether to use the desertscape as a backdrop or a character. Kabul Express celebrates survival and discreetly condemns neighbors' lies.Sarcasm is comforting in arid weather. Linda Arsenio plays a snarky American journalist in Afghanistan who tells two Indian rookies, "There's so much variety here..."Bring kebabs for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The film's cynicism as it travels across dry territory in pursuit of a harsh adventure leaves us eager for movie moments.Subhash K Jha and Kabir Khan Talked on Kabul Express. Kabul Express was my first feature film, earned my first National Award, premiered at the Toronto Film Festival, and more. Because audiences still like it 18 years later. I love hearing Kabul Express is my favorite film. I'm forever grateful to my actors John and Arshad and producer Aditya Chopra for protecting me from the Taliban while filming in Afghanistan. We made Kabul Express overcome all barriers, sweetening its victory.
